DPP is the only industry driven, externally audited, global hygiene certification system in existence with a scope covering all vegetable crops and pests of concern that seeks involvement by all and is applicable across the varying production strategies in use by the industry. 

DPP addresses shared seed health challenges by providing a platform for industry wide collaboration on hygiene management production practices. Periodic DPP events will be held to facilitate the exchange of best practices and to drive continuous improvement of the DPP Hygiene Standard.  

Through independent, external auditing, DPP provides transparency into participant implementation of and adherence to the DPP Hygiene Standard.  

DPP facilitates the continuous improvement of industry seed hygiene by providing the DPP Hygiene Standard and Risk Assessment Tool for participants to evaluate, manage and improve their seed hygiene practices. Further insights for continuous improvement are identified through the exchange of best practices derived from practical participant experience of utilizing these and other DPP tools.  

DPP explicitly focuses on the pests that are impacting vegetable production worldwide. The DPP crop specific production requirements, pests in scope, testing requirements, etc. are all developed, adopted and continually improved through industry experience and expertise that is represented on the DPP Board and participants that consist entirely of seed producers and integrated seed companies.  

After DPP participants have obtained and implemented the DPP Hygiene Standard, internal audits are performed to confirm adherence to all stated requirements. Participants then arrange for external auditing with a DPP approved audit organization. The DPP Foundation will then provide site certification based upon a successful external auditing outcome.  

The DPP Foundation is currently in the process of identifying audit organizations to perform the required external audits. DPP certification of sites will be available after the audit organizations have been engaged to conduct the DPP audits.
